Default ABS & Brake Light Help

The ABS & Brake Light come on sometimes when i start the car if i turn it off and back on a few times it will go away my speedometer is working but its off by 5mph i think its because my tires are a little bigger then normal so i don't think it is the sensor i have a 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 Pickup 5.9L V8 Magnum it has 155,554 Miles any suggestions would be great

Might be a speed sensor problem, i have 33's which are quite bigger than stock and my speedometer isnt off more than 1 mph.

brake and abs light is usually the speed sensor in the top of the rear diff. in the parts catalog its sometimes called rear abs sensor. its probably not the 'speed sensor which is in the tail housing of the trans.

since it comes and goes, you might unplug/replug the connection, remove/check the sensor. its just a magnet but it might have a bunch of **** stuck to it.

Yup you got it. Its not a really expensive part. So it's worth a shot to replace it. If it works let us know. I have the same issue but I replaced the diff sensor now it comes on randomly. So I'm curious to see what else it could be. Where is the sensor that is on the tranny? Is it easy to get to?

I may be mistaken, but isn't there supposed to be a little square piece of metal sticking out of that a bit? ( to get closer to the tone ring?)
