That happens sometimes. Flaw in manufacturing can occur. That's is why I often look at warranty, but it is not the sole determining factor in purchases. I like it when they replace or refund. Now if they would just pay me for my labor......

My wife tends to ride the brakes when she drives in town. Can't break her of the habit - I just know I will have to replace pads and shoes more often.

Default Parts and Warranties

Another 20 year know-it-all! First of all, I think the story is pure BS but if for some reason it had any validity, Autozone doesn't have the talent behind the counter smart enough to know why the product failed looking at it! Thier first clue should have been a 20 year old with their childish behavior and more money than brains because daddy picking up the tab!
I can tell you with absolute assurance these "boys" had no clue installing a clutch! Guaranteed the flywheel wasn't resurfaced, clutch wasn't properly aligned, and who buys a Autozone clutch.........talk about all that 20 year know it all knowledge!
I've been around the block a few times and this isn't my first rodeo although it might be yours! QUALITY PARTS COME WITH QUALITY WARRANTY............NO DEBATE ABOUT IT!!!

My eldest grandchildren are a lot closer to 20 than their parents are, so I've got a few years of experience behind me -- and quite a few of those years as an engineer and a manager who was involved in the process of establishing warranty terms and often being involved in product failure analysis.

AutoZone couldn't care less why the part failed. They make more money with a generous returns policy than they would without it. The manufacturers who get the warranty claim make more money by doing the high volume business than they would by beefing every questionable claim, so they'll only make noise if the claims rate exceeds their predefined tolerance.

That's a terribly disrespectful tone you've taken with another forum member. I assume it won't matter at all to you, but welcome to my ignored users list.

1) I am 20.
2) I do not know it all.
3) My father has never paid an automotive bill for me, ever.
4) My father lives 2400 miles away from me, so even if he wanted to, he couldn't.
5) My flywheel was resurfaced.
6) The clutch was properly aligned.
7) Somebody whose fiance was flying down to visit him, meaning he had to get his only vehicle back on the road pronto, buys an Autozone clutch. I mean, it had a lifetime warranty, so it has to be extremely high quality, right?

EDIT: Wh1t3NuKle has pointed out an important fact. Today is not my birthday. Neither was monday. However, my 5th birthday is coming up. I turn 20 on the 29th of Feb.
Quote from your birthday thread . Autozone clutch with 39" tires and a 10" lift and you expect it to last ? Just saying .

I bought an alternator at the Zone once. It had a lifetime warranty. It failed 3 times, and they kept giving me a new one. I eventually got tired of replacing it on the old Jeep, ate the cost, and put a new (not reman) alternator (with no warranty) on the rig. Sold the Jeep several years later with the non warrantied alternator on there still doing its job. So in that instance, the warranty didn't mean much as far as quality. Don't buy parts at the Zone anymore. Wasn't it Chris Farley in "Tommy Boy" that said "I could take a crap in a box and slap a warranty sticker on the side."?
