I think you nailed the OP idea, just fishing for some experience from the forum members. Maybe a good idea for a thread. I came across a real good deal from Detriot axle , anyone had any experience with them?

Why did you add the "not" into my quote?? If you look at your post time, and my last edited time on the post you quoted, you will see I did not edit since you posted...

Definately got the wrong truck. Never once even had the transmission out of the '72. With a stock 318 pushing MAYBE 130HP to the wheels, I'm not hard on clutches torquing the thing around town and down the trail. With the right gears big tires won't put any (okay much) extra stress on the clutch anyway.

The Autozone clutch was for a stock '95 Ram with 33" tires. It was also 12" diameter (vs the OEM 11"). So even being an 'upgrade,' I still had problems with it.

What was the good deal? Care to share?

You don't have to deserve it, man. You just have to associate with people who have never known a single correct thing in their lives but have got enough years behind them that they believe (wrongly) that they deserve more respect than they're getting.

Detriot axle did alright by me, wife's Dakota had a really badly leaking steering rack. Ordered it off of their ebay site, they rebuilt one right away, had it at my house in five days (free shipping) and they only were asking for a twenty dollar core charge.
Next time I am going to ask them to just rebuild my OEM part and see if they will do that.

You didnt do anything to deserve the attack. That guy is just a ignorant person who thinks hes right when in all reality he is wrong. And for him to attack you like that cause hes older and your only 20 is just completely wrong. Im only 21 and i find it offensive what he did and it wasnt even towards me. Someday he will realize that he was out of hand with his insults and that his arguments were completely wrong.

It doesn't take a Harvard degree to figure out parts with longer warranty are better in quality and anyone who can't figure that out is dumber than a rock or know-it all 20 year olds that don't have a clue if their on foot or horseback!
I think someone who has 40 plus years turning wrenches and has worked on everything from Volkswagons to Cat 631 Pans might just have a clue and the knowledge of what they're talking about...........certainly more confident than the 20 year old still wet behind the ears!
They can talk all the BS they want............like Ron White says...........YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!

Sorry, I have to disagree with you. A longer warranty CAN be an indication of higher quality, but, that is not a universal truth. I have used many parts that had "lifetime" warranties, that were of lesser quality than parts that had a 90 day warranty. I am not 20, and haven't been for several decades. I have also been turning wrenches for quite some time....... (longer than I really care to admit....)

Just as a minor example....... 99% of parts installed on vehicles at the dealership (on a car/truck that the manufacturers warranty has expired, so, the customer gets to pay for it) is 12 months, or 12,000 miles. Now, by your reasoning, those parts would be of a lesser quality that some no-name (duralast....) part that has a lifetime warranty?

Even with your 40 plus years of wrenching your still an idiot. If your point had any truth to it then most of the parts on my truck should be broken correct? You state that parts with a longer or lifetime warranty are better quality than parts that have a shorter warranty on them is just wrong. Ive put parts on my truck and all my other vehicles that have had lifetime warranties and yet they break or go bad and yet when replacing them Ive used cheaper parts that have less of a warranty and never had a problem with them after that. Your way out of line and way out in left field with thinking. Ill talk and keep proving the RIGHT points and you can keep being a moron. And like Bill Engvall says... HERES YOUR SIGN!!

Apparantly I am dumber than a rock.

This guy came back to the Dodge forum for the sole purpose of pissing people off. No amount of reasoning will get him to say anything logical. Have your fun buddy.
