Default Axle Nut Problems

I've got a bad axle seal on an 01 ram 2500 and went to pull the axle nut today to replace the axle seal and it won't budge what so ever. I soaked it with wd40. I pulled the ratchet stood on the damn thing and finally tried to break it loose by pushing the ratchet up with my 3 ton floor jack and only succeeded in lifting the front of my truck up. I don't have a 3/4" impact and ain't got the money to buy one. does anybody have an Idea on how to get that damn nut off. It had ball joints done before I bought the truck and I'm sure they just hammered the living hell out of that nut with an impact which is why that seal went bad. I just need to know if anybody's got any idea on how to get the nut off.

3/4' breaker bar with 1 - 11/16's socket and a 4 foot piece of pipe.

if there is a local shop you use somtimes, you might be able to get them to throw an impact on it for a couple bucks. just have them snug it back up for the careful drive home.

Try the pipe as Yak suggested. and a real good penetrating oil PB, deep creep, knocker loose. WD40 is good for squeeky door hinges..

When I pulled mine off, I used an impact wrench and took about 3-5 min of running the damn thing to get it to come loose, witch is odd because there is only something like 200 ftlb max on that thing if I remember correctly and I am used to breaking 400 plus ftlbs of torque on a fairly regular bases. I tried the breaker bar and pipe deal and got no where with it, then again it may have been easier if the tire had been on the ground. Unless I am thinking of another axel nut it is an 1-11/16 nut. I had to got buy mine from my FLAPS. Luckily I saved my self some money and found the axel nut that said Dodge on it, and having to buy a bunch of different sizes to get the right one.

If you have access to a compressor that will run air tools, try to see if you can rent an impact wrench, if not, just yank like hell and it will come off eventually.
