Default DeBadging

So i know some people don't like this and some people do. if i find out about that tailgate plastic piece tonight, i will probably debadge my truck. i want to remove the 1500 emblem, the v8 emblem, and the laramie emblem.

but i do have a few questions. on the back of the tailgate where the dodge and 4x4 are stickered on,can't you remove those by using a hairdryer? second, the black rubber piece running along the sides of the cab is starting to come undone. i should be able to remove these the same as the 1500 emblems correct? i saw the diy of debadging but it didn't show that part. thanks in advance

I removed that tailgate strip pretty easily. I carefully used a pry bar to pry it off and all that is under that is the left over double sided tape.

Get one of those eraser and put it in a drill and it will save you a lot of time trying to remove the rest of the double sided tape. As for the black strips along the doors, I haven't messed with those.

Be careful with the door emblems, there on there pretty good and sometimes like to take a little paint with them.

do you have any pictures of the end result from prying that plastic piece off? so the paint isn't chipped underneath? thats good to know, i didn't think it was held on the tailgate with that adhesive crap.

thats good to know though. now i just got to figure out how to get it off myself. yeah i was gonna pick up that eraser.

I was careful so it didn't leave any marks. Once I got enough off I just ripped the rest of it off by hand. Before getting that eraser wheel I tried goo gone, a hair dryer and lighter fluid and didn't really get anywhere. Once my eraser wheel came in it took maybe 5mins to clean to get it off and you can't tell there was anything on my tailgate.

I checked at A&A, Pep Boys and Advanced and none of them had it.

i didnt have the side moulding or the tailgate stuff, but i did my 1500 and V8 and ill warn you now, i spent hours trying to get that goo off with a hair dryer and goo gone, id definatly get that remover, and be careful, the adhesive under the "5" in "1500" on mine didnt stick or something and dirt and water got behind it for years and when i too it off it left a nice big paint chip

this is after i sanded and used the little dealer paint brush

A little prying and mine came right off just enough to smash my hand under it and pull it up the rest of the way!
