Default transmission to radiator issue

Ok, so I leaked 4 qts when the hose blew off the rad. Fixed the hose , changed the filter, topped it off while cycling thru the gears. Ran great for 3 days. Now starts slipping after 1/10th mile. When shut off and restarted will engage again for 1/10th mile only. Check valve was removed by prev owner. Air flows thru radiator. With hose off, flow from hose while running in Drive is minimal. Bad filter? Miss a filter? Other thoughts?

Possibly the filter came loose? Poor seal from filter to valve body?

Im sorry to say but the pump going bad is only the start of the problems. Now your clutches are going to be glazed or burnt. I woulnt pull that unit out and just stick a pump in it. Waste of time, needs a rebuild.

I see rebuild kits online, are they all inclusive of parts or will I need other things like flexplate? Torque converter? Electronics? etc? I've done major engine work, never trannys but think it's well within my capavbility, thanks

Flexplate: Only needed if yours is broke.

Torque Converter: Not a bad idea to replace with a rebuild. Good place for stuff to accumulate, and then come out into your fresh trans. Not a good scene.

Replacing sensors/solenoids/etc while you are in there wouldn't be a bad idea.

Don't know if any special tools are required for this evolution......
