People feel a slight increase at first, and so they give positive feedback. You will lose power slowly over the weeks/months until its back to normal, but it'll happen gradually enough that you won't notice. It fools the IAT sensor into telling the PCM the air is colder than it really is, which makes the PCM put a bit more fuel into the mixture. However, because the PCM also takes readings on the A/F mixture from the front O2 sensor, it will eventually correct itself and cancel out the resistor/scam box.

 

Actually, it won't even last that long. When the engine is cold (open loop), the computer ignores the O2 sensor, and runs the mixture off of tables, based on various sensor inputs. IAT being one of them. Once the engine goes into closed loop, the O2 sensor is then the primary means of determining how much fuel the engine gets. So, great when cold, gone as soon as the engine warms up. THE FIRST TIME, and every time after that.
