Angry 8 mpg in city...really?

Any ideas why I might be getting 8 mpg in the city. I know I got a 5.9L but come on...due for a tune up? May plenum leak? Any ideas out there? Driving me nuts!

depends on how you drive. if you drive easy, you should be able to get 11-12-13 around town. if you rip and snort everywhere you go, then who knows how low it can go.

i'd guess front O2 sensor for poor mpg.

I am getting 8.9 city, but I live one mile from work, and I have to make 3 turns at stop signs to get there. Not very mileage friendly.

I still have the sticker from my 2001. The sticker said 12 MPG city and 14 MPG HWY.

People seem to forget that these vehicles were made when gas was less than $1 per gallon.

Don't feel so bad I am getting 9.5 with about 80% highway.

LOL

Don't forget the mileage stickers in 2001 were a bit BS.

You couldn't get their mileage by driving downhill with a tail wind drafting a semi.

I have all the things in my signature, and I consistently get 11.5-11.75 MPG in town. Thats because I go rip-roaring everywhere. I have a lead foot, and don't deny it.

Before my upgrades, I was getting around 9 MPG with a blown plenum during the winter. I hope my MPGs will improve after I (someday when $$$ shows up) install my better gears.
