This is an 8 year old thread. I'm in the process of doing a 6.4 swap in my 01 2500. Doing a 408 you keep the 5.9 block, just shave off some metal .30 over

And replace the crank with one with a longer stroke.

Yes but tried to keep it simple as the OP does not seem to be much knowledge in the engine department (no offense! We all started there). Not to mention pistons, valves, heads, and MAYBE a turbo

Default Hemi swap

I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500 and an 05 Dodge Ram 1500 complete with hemi and everything. I want to swap my 97 body over to the 05 frame. What all will I need to be able to hook everything up and be able to drive the truck. Someone mentioned a special harness for the steering components

Won't work. Well I should say it will work with a lot of fabrication and it isn't worth it

Be aware the muliplexing systems are different between the two trucks. They will not talk to each other. Different terminal resistance in the pcm and different number of wires and speed.

Watched a hemi swap in a ramcharger last weekend on fourwheeler the tv show. They used a harness with the factory ECM but didn't go into details. They said It would get it to "run". I think you may have more of a problem with the frame swap. Why not use the 97 frame and body? Lot easier.

I don't know why anyone would want to swap to an engine that's designed to starve itself of oil and grenade. Ever heard of Hemi tick? Cam failures? Lifter failures? Every engine has this flaw. I won't even say good luck.

That's only a problem on the 4th gens. The Hemis make way more power than a 360 could dream of. Not to mention better ignition system and fuel mileage
