Default Blew my rebuilt tranny....i think :(

went mudding today with a friend...found a HUGE mud pit....soupy soupy mud....well i started going through, front end dipped down, and i punched it, then i got stuck BAD....

had water about 6in. from the window, and cab took on water
my buddy was able to get me out with his Jeep 4.0 lol.....

Well i mad it out of the trail without a problem....got to the main road, went to accelerate, and it wouldnt come out of first....i immidiatly pulled over, and checked tranny fluid....it was the color of chocolate milk.....i had no other choice but to drive it the 12 miles back home....

it wouldnt come out of first...was slipping when going up hills, and i could smell burnt fluid when i checked it....

I made it home, still goes into reverse, and drive, but only first gear...

tranny never overheated either....and i know the dummy light works, for it overheated about 2 months ago...then i changed fluid and filter.

So im going to have my old boss flush out the tranny for me, i hope this fixes it....theres only 25K on my rebuilt tranny....ill be pissed if its blown, for i wont be able to fix it for a while......

and sorry I have no pics....i was more worried about getting my truck out....had to basically go swimming to hook up the tow rope...but my buddy took some pics on his phone...ill get my hands on those...

Running it with contaminated fluid might have done it in..... Flush it out, see what happens.

I'm curious to know if the dipstick tube was missing an O-ring. It'd suck mightily to know that a 20 cent O-ring cost you an entire transmission.

what about that vent that is on the passenger side? You know, that rubber tube with the plastic vent cap attached to the inner fender.

could have sucked in mud from there.

what if it leaked through the bellhousing? YOu know, where there is that metal sheet that is always warped and beat up.

You need to check your differentials, transfer case and power steering fluids while you're at it just to be sure that you didn't get water in there too.

Being in that much water you most definitely got water in through the vent on the top of the front pump behind the converter. My guess would be that the governor got gummed up with a little mud or some of the valves in the valve body caught some of the fines that the filter couldn't get out (mud is nasty stuff that way). If you don't have a shift kit now would be a good time to get one, the Trans-Go SK TFOD Jr can be had for less than $50 and is definitely an improvement over a stock VB. It gives your mechanic friend a good reason to go in the VB to check that all the valves move freely. Hopefully it's the VB and not the governor, the VB is easy to get to; the governor requires that the OD section be removed...

i talked to my old boss today, and he said the same thing about water entering the vent on the top...

i just bought about $120 worth of fluid, and now im begining the flush....going to fill it, run it through gears, and drain....i have enough fluid to do this 3 times, then the 4th fill up will have to be it....hopefully thats enough.....
