I run 33s, no rubbing, and they look great. I'm going to use 3" spacers in the front and AALs in the rear, and try 35s when i buy new tires. should level and lift a bit.

IMO... rubbing=failure!

guess it depends what you're going for. if you actually wheel then you want the most tire you can fit with minimal lift; cutting fenders, etc.
theres no reason you can't run 40s without rubbing on a 2nd gen ram with 3" lift if you have a sawzall i sure wouldn't wanna be off camber with 12" lift and 40s........ scary....

that being said, i am fine with cutting my front bumper to clear 35s. truck will be low, with a good size meat and VERY stable.

again, its all in your interpretation. to me, if i rub, i'll just cut whatevers in the way i have proper wheels, so the rest is just flimsy sheet metal

That been said, I have seen plenty of guys in my time with 12 inches of lift and 40 inch tires at angles that would make your butt cheeks pucker up like Madonna and Brittney...

And I've seen some chop jobs who ended up slicing thier big meats to shreds. Or running enough mud and water into that electrical connectior behind your divers inner fender for a unique electrical faliure.

I'm plenty fine with cutting stuff away for clearence...hell any evil monkey with a sawzall can do it too. And its your truck not mine, so go for it. Be sure to post pics!

It's probably a minority opinion this day, but still a shared one...is that it takes a bit more skill to properly science out a lift and tire/wheel combo that'll work in 99+% of all opportunities than just hack the bejeezus outta something.

One could argue that fender trimming/flares/whathaveyou are part and parcel of a well thought out lift/larger tires.

All depends on how ya do it. Just wacking away at the body work IS a bad plan..... Given that my body is fairly rusty to begin with..... I could probably get away with 35's, without a lift at all...... (ok, its not really that bad..... but, its close. )

You are gunna need more than 5in. I gout about a 6 on mine and 35's rub at full steering lock and earlier that that if it is a quick turn and the truck leans.

that weird cause when I had the rims with the larger back spacing so they didnt stick out at all. The 35" mudders I had (new) did not rub even at full lock (like yours with 6" only I only have a 3" body lift).... and they only rub now if Im on an extreme angle or hit a bump at full lock....the type of rims and condition of you springs effect this a lot...

Other way around, if you wheel a lot you want articulation for most wheeling so your tires stay planted on the ground and everythings got room to flex....big tires crammed in wheel wells are more for looks on the street and the tough guy image....(I'm not making fun I have 35's and 3" of lift remember?) but Im getting a banner on my windshield that says "compensating" and I'm adding more lift for better flex without rubbing...

I should also put out there that I run 15x8 rims, and they were 35x12.5. It also depends on brand, Brand may differ up to an inch to an inch and a half in width and height. IIRC they were BFG A/T's. I run 32's right now and I like the the weight on them, but I really wish they filled the wheel wells up more.

I have 15 x 9 or 10 rims now but they were 15x8's when they didnt rub...only because the backspacing though and I have 35 x 12.5 tires also... I do agree some measure bigger than others..but Im still shocked it rubbed ....5" is the norm for having plenty of clearance for 35's...maybe your springs are sagging..
