Probably front main seal. Dribbling a bit, and then collects dirt and such during the course of normal driving. If you are planning on doing your water pump/timing chain and gears, you will already be in there. Don't think you have to pull the cover to get the seal off though..... just pull the balancer, and it should be right there.

Yep, just pull the balancer. You'll need a seal driver that is sort of deep to get the new one on with the timing cover on the engine. It will need to be deep enough to clear the end of the crank.

thanks sounds simple enough, can i rent a seal driver from AZ? i'll just add the seal from the Mopar site to my big shopping cart. the timing chain is behind that front cover correct? i wonder if i'm already replacing the crank seal, i should replace the cover gasket and the timing chain and gear set. i don't really wanna mess with timing though...

would this be called the Front Crank Seal? i'm sure the rear main seal is gone too...

Probably. You will need a three-jaw gear puller to get the balancer off as well.

Front crank seal √
Advance loan a puller and seal driver √

I used a duck foot looking puller for the balancer and it worked really good (easy), you take the pulley off and just bolt the puller to it, then drive it on out.

If you go with a 3 jaw puller instead, make sure to put it in the bolt holes and not on the edges of the balancer or you will damage the balancer.

Seal driver? What the hell would you need to spend money on that for? Take a scrap 2x4 and drill a 2'' hole in it with a hole saw. Might as well take the timing cover off and replace the timing chain and all the gaskets. A new Cloyes timing chain is $37 and the gaskets including the front cover seal was $22.

Yes it is the bottom one. You take the 6 bolts out and the pulley comes off easily, then you use the puller to get the balancer off.
Purpl brings up a good point about the 2x4, If you do it that way, just remember that the seal can't get sideways at all in the cover or it'll leak. Also remember that the seal drivers at advance are free when you return them. I believe the balljoint removal kit has a cup in there that is perfect for the front seal.
