My truck will not go into overdrive until the engine reaches normal engine temp, not transmission temp. You could have a damage lip seal for the O/D piston.

Have a look at some of the links in This thread. There are a bunch there, find one that looks like it will do what you want, or, since they are free, try several. Still have to buy a com cable though.

I really wouldn't be surprised if your reman O/D solenoid took a vacation though..... It IS a holiday weekend....

I never rule anything out. I'm always open to any plausible idea, however, wouldn't you say that the OD solenoid would be the problem more likely then not? I only say that because I was dumb enough to buy a remaned OD solenoid. I was very careful not to flip or cut the lip of any of the seals, but like I said, I won't rule that out until the problem is solved. Thanks for the reply. For some reason, no one wants to post on this thread. I'm starting to feel like I'm the Boogie Man.

My truck will go into overdrive as soon as I am up to an appropriate speed. Regardless of engine temp. (even on a short trip to the mall, which is 1.5 miles away, I am in O/D on the main roads......)

I am waiting to see what happens when you change the O/D solenoid. It really sounds like that is the problem....

Probably the solenoid but Im no expert, have you posted this to MonteC thread?

Ive got twins coolers on my Indy as well as a deep pan, never had an issue with it going into od unless I fried it
My V10 for almost one month a few years back wouldnt shift into od.
That Jan. was freakin cold, we had a few record breaking cold days. (-35 to -40 windchill for over a week brrr)

Yeah, after I made a thread here, I posted in Monte's thread. I figured he'd reply tues or wens., and rightfully so. The man works his *** off for his 9 to 5, then comes on line and is overwhelmed with posts on his thread...and answers them. Much appreciated.

I don't think I fried my OD unit. The fluid doesn't smell burnt and I only have about 130 miles on it. 60 of which were highway/OD miles. But I could be wrong...I hope not. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated. (I hate it when people post a problem similar to mine but don't post who they fixed it.)

*UPDATE*
SO I JUST DROPPED THE PAN...
I guess I didn't clean it as good as I thought I did. There was some of that very fine black metal slug on the magnet and pan. Not much though. Is this cause for concern? I just double checked and there's 160 miles on the tranny. The NEW TCC solenoid I ordered will be in tomorrow. God willing, that will solve the problem.

You got it right Indy. I finally had enough time to take out the rebuilt OD/TCC solenoid and install a brand new Borg Warner Solenoid and sure enough, shifts smooth right into 4th gear/over drive. So just as a courtesy to those that are searching threads, my symptom was no 4th gear/overdrive up shift. It just revved high in 3rd gear. Upwards of 3000 rpms. It never gets that high. Thanks for everyone for there help and especially Master Tech, who offered to stop by and help.
