My truck has used mobil 1 synthetic for its whole life and it was PRISTINE when I popped the intake and valvecovers. All I saw was pure metal coated in a greasy susbtance...oh, that's right SYNTHETIC OIL.

I do use a quart of lucas oil stabilizer to 4 quarts synthetic...maybe that helps.

LMAO!
Ive seen other guys motors opened running dino oil, could barely see the lifter webbing there was so much crud
My Indy has only had synthetics since its first oil change back in 96.
When I took the intake off, valley was spotless, under valve covers spotless.
When bored/stroked bottom end looked mint, clearly see the crosshatch down the holes.
Wear was minimal at best.

Synthetics will have the mtr running cleaner, smoother, cooler with less wear.

Amen indy. A truck that has had synthetic its whole life will be spotless. The bad thing is when you switch to synthetic at about 70K miles.

I use lucas oil treatment at every oil change, and change the oil with synthetic. If you use the motor flush, that will bake stuff on. Because all it really consists of is kerosene.

Any engine that gets regular maintenance should be pretty damn clean on the inside when you open it up. Any engine that is mistreated will look like crap when you open it up. Sometimes, it will look like crap no matter WHAT you do.

I have seen engines that the owner religiously changed the oil every three thousand miles, with burnt bearings, and more crap than you can shake a forest at. (quaker state oil no less.....) I have seen engines the used synthetics look just as bad. Consider, your synthetic oil is STILL oil. Gets pumped out of the ground just like any other oil. The difference is in the manufacture process. Car Craft did a good article on it a while back. Good read.

Of course, I have also seen cars come in with 30,000 miles on 'em, and the factory installed oil filter, with drivers saying silly things like "I am supposed to change the oil?", or, my personal favorite...... "But, it SAYS "maintenance FREE right there!" (while pointing at the battery......) No, we did not repair those under warranty.....

See this is what I have always thought myself, and is what I have had experience with. I will probably continue to stick with Mobil 1 fully synthetic as there still isn't enough cold hard facts in my opinion that proves it really is bad for our engines. To many factors at play. RM, you should take a peak at this thread and see what you think.

You wanna go fast, eh? Do it right the first time. Just rebuild the motor and stroke it while you're in there. Yes, I know not everyone can afford it, but it's called saving money up...

You wanna go faster than that? Look at Indy's ride... Do that.

everybody wants to go fast...first off...you did the wrong thing by buying a dang 2-3 ton truck!! But that's what makes it interesting...our heavy trucks can beat your little stang that doesn't weigh anything...I can mow over little GT mustangs that are the 95-99 bodystyle...and I can beat a 2002 GT until about 110-120....with my basically stock Ram....I have went well past my speedo's 120 mph against a 2003 6.0 chevy truck in a 3/4 mile long race....so basically just save up some money...because you will spend it WAAAAAY quicker than you did saving it!!!
