Default Detroit Locker. and why im not happy. Any Help??

I put a detroit locker in my rear dana 60. I put it in, back outta shop and do a burnout on the road. One side is darker than the other. I try and do a burnout on a wet road and it wont lock. Just keeps going side to side locking. In four wheel drive in will lock if i stand in the gas the whole time but if i dont, No lock. When i turn it will stay locked sometime on the road too, Typical i know. I do truck pulls and it does not stay locked unless i stand in the throttle all the way. I called 4 Wheel parts, who i bought it from, and i get beat around the bush and talk to some chick who knows nothing about trucks. And shes says she cant help me and wont exchange it i have to call detroit. So i did, and detroit says its not broke, that my axle is bent. Wrong, if my axle was bent it would be broken a long time ago. Not sure what else to do since DETROIT will NOT HELP. Not even a swap out to make sure this one is not broken. Its brand new!!!! Ok sorry, im a little upset as you can tell. Im very close to taking out my detroit and putting an ox in or a spool. Any suggestions???

Bad install?

Don't buy parts from 4wd! I think you know this now.

Strange how it wont lock. It should always be locked.

take your truck off road get a rear tire off the ground or one tire one slick mud and the other on a rock and then try to spin them. sometimes detriots can be a bit weird on the street.

btw it shouldnt always belocked, that would be a spool. the det will lock under a load or as soon as the other tire slips.

Good install. 4 different mechanics say it works like a tru-trac. Ran the numbers by detroit and they say its a no spin diff. So its the right diff. Detroit keeps saying its my truck. I have had 3 different people and myself tear this truck apart to find whats wrong and found nothing. Its very strang because most detroits i have ever done or seen have the problem of not unlocking. My just wont stay locked.

Offroadjosh. The problem is it is Unlocking under load.

if its unlocking underload im wondering if the spring inside the locker is bad. nothing in an axle would cause this other than an axle shaft that is broken. I would speak to a sup at det and have them send you out a new one asap. if you gas it around a corner does it chirp the tires?

Yes.. it chirps most corners unless im idleing. and detroit i have call 3 times now and they wont do a dang thing about it. Keep saying its my truck. They say an axle is bent. I running different tires in the rear, or my axle housing is bent. Negative on all three.

The detroit locker should remain locked when you step on the gas, whether you are just applying a bit of acceleration out of a corner, or have it mashed to the floor. If it is unlocking under load, the locker is faulty.

If Detroit is claiming your axle is bent, take it to your friendly neighborhood shop, and have it checked. Pay them for the service, and get a receipt. When detroit tries to tell you it is bent, have the receipt in hand, and offer to fax it to them.

If they still refuse to give you any satisfaction, call the better business bureau, and file a complaint. No idea how effective that will be though.....
