if i remember correctly you would need a spacer plate to match the ports when putting a 6.1 intake on a 5.7. and putting a 6.1 cam in the 5.7 at this stage in the game would just ad to the fire you already have going. replace the 5.7 cam with a 5.7 cam. get it running and tuned properly first. get the bugs out!!!!!!

I agree rapid that was kind if my thought process.I can always upgrade later. I talked with my wife and she doesn't think I need more power she thinks I need a trick that runs can't really argue with that logic. I am on the look our for a new or gently used cam. I'm going to try patching the manifold the hole isn't that big. So I may post a thread in the G3 section. I will keep you guys posted. As much as it stinks at least I I know what it is I need to fix.

A stock intake manifold won't be hard to find or expensive. Going with a comp performance cam will require a tuner . As you know Super~Tuner options for the 03' ~ 04' Hemi's are very limited. If the finances are there to upgrade to a 05' pcm and wiring harness now would be a great time .
On the other hand I'm pretty sure Comp. sells cams close enough to stock they don't need a tuner..
I'm glad to see you found the problem . I don't know if it's possible to warp a valve if they open on TDC.. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything about the Hemi's Like you I'm learning .. Post some pics if you can..

Yea im sure a stock 5.7 hemi cam shouldnt be to hard to find since there are so many hemi guys swapping them out. Id say i could send you one as i now have 2 hemi's sitting at home but i dont know when id have time to get it pulled out and i would imagine shipping would be out of this world coming from canada. But if you cant find one let me know and ill help yea out if i can.

I wish i woulda held onto my dads 04 motor when it came out. I would have been able to pull the cam for you.. I might be able to see if the shop still has it if you would like.

Sure dlyter if you could that would be hear how much would you want for it? I'm thinking now I need to do every thing as cheaply as possible as well as keep it as close to stock as possible. Then once its running look into upgrades s far as a cam and harness go.that way trouble shooting will be easier.

Thanks for your help and support guys. I will be pulling the cam out tomorrow and the intake as well. Wish me luck that I don't find any more land mines on this project. The end is on sight.
