Well yea, but why bother swapping one into a 3rd gen when you could just buy one with it? This is very cool because its so different.

me too id like to see him get it going. would definitely make me feel better going into my swap.

But after all the headaches he's had with it i could understand why he might just need a brake from it for a while.

Sorry all I have been busy with work. I finally had a day off and cool weather I got my timing chain cover pulled off. When I pulled it off I found my camshaft sprocket bolt and pin had sheared off. So that was definitely the cause of my timing no start issue I also discovered that my manifold had cracked from one of the times it backfired out the intake. So I have the option of trying to tap out the bolt and the pin, or just replace the cam, but I think i'm going to ruin the cam anyway due to the hardness of the bolt and pin and would have to end up buying a new cam shaft in the end so i'm going to save myself the money and replace the cam. I'm going to try to epoxy the manifold but if I can't fix it I may have to replace it too. So i'm torn as to if I should replace my cam with a 5.7 can that someone has swapped out doing the 6.1 upgrade. Or if I should upgrade the manifold and cam to a 6.1 setup I know the 6.1 has an aluminum intake. The bottom line is going to be cost. So if anyone has a spare cam or a spare intake for sale let me know. Hopefully I will get the beast running this year. I will post pictures soon.

You are an amazingly perserverant man. I can't believe how this thing has met you with problems at every turn. It's gonna be sweet when you are done! I vote for (of course) an upgraded cam and intake. If your gonna do it, do it right, right?

Keep up the good work.

My brother in law has a new cam for a '03 5.7L Hemi, not sure if he'd want to sell it though...

You can check out the classified section of this forum, there is usually a good deal to be found.

I would also post in the 3rd gen section, someone there might have what you need just sitting in their garage!

Good luck!

I dont think id worry to much about swapping to a 6.1 intake as its more for looks than anything, plus you would need to swap all your coils to the 06+ style (from what i understand). So from a cost point of few id try and resuse the 5.7 intake.

Also if your doing a cam id say upgrade it if you can find a deal on one. The 6.1 cams are supposed to give the 5.7 a nice little bump in HP an TQ. Or from what ive read id suggest looking into a Comp 260 or something along those lines would also be good. Altough if you are going to upgrade the cam you might want to look into tuning before making any real choices since you are running an 03 computer right?

Id suggest posting in the 3rd gen section and they would be able to tell you alot more. ive been doing alot of reading over there lately as im wanting to swap the cam in my hemi before it goes in the truck.
