Hemi Swap into a 2nd Generation Ram
Physically remove the lifters from the bores. You can just set them next to the holes they go in......
I don't think there is anything else that could (should...) be holding the cam in.... thrust plate on the front??

That's what i was thinking is that the lifters are in the way. The thrust plate is off. It just feels so solid like something is really binding it up. The best pay it's that if the nonservicable bearings are jacked up i would have to buy a new block to fix it. No I'm really wondering why that cam sprocket bolt snapped.......
From what I see, Mopar says they are non-serviceable, but, numerous other sites have them as available from the aftermarket, and changed just like any other cam bearing. (pressed in/out). According to one site that I read, the Durabond bearings have an EXTERNAL oil groove, to help out with oiling...... Never heard of them before, so, no clue if they are any good or not.
I suspect though, that if the bearings are indeed in need of replacing, you will have to pull the motor for the rearmost bearing......

I think if i have to do any more motor work I'm going to be over my head. Really ticks me off the guy i bought it from said yet was in good working order. It has been one problem after another. I am going to pull the cam and check out the bearings If they are trashed I'm either going to buy a replacement block or just swap a different motor in. I'm kinda thinking I bought a lemon.
+1 This is right up there for troubled swaps that I have seen/done. Good for you sticking with it.
Good on ya for sticking with this swap though!! I'd really like to see you get it up and running!!

Well dude , this is one time I wish I would have been wrong when I said It sounded like you were having timing issues..That's not a big deal for older motors but for a Hemi it can be a disaster ..
I wish there was something I could do to help , but in this case brother you're on your own.. I really hope once you get that cam out the bearings aren't scorched to the block. In that case I think you would be better off finding a Junk yard motor with low miles..OR Maybe get a short block and transfer everything over..
Either way I wish ya luck bro I hope you get it figured out soon, I know you're ready to drive your creation and enjoy some of the hard work you've done..
"It's been Hell" , stick with it...
