Well, halfamil got almost half a million miles and he ran whatever conventional oil was on sale at oil change time so I guess there isn't really an advantage to synthetic on our motors.

If your changing your oil every 3k it's really probably not going to make a difference, as everyone knows dino or synthetic doesn't break down at 3k. With that said, if your budget allows for it, why not put synthetic in your engine? It is a superior oil, it's not a hoax.

With synthetic oil, maintenance intervals can be doubled or even more depending on driving conditions (ie all highway driving can mean oil changes from 3,000 miles to 7,500). Even Dino oil can last 7,000 if the car is regularly driven highway.

Synthetic oil goes great with coffee, frees up your cash, and can cure lumbago**

**OK, I may have made up that last sentence.

Does any one miss the days of 1000 mile grease jobs and oil changes?
Then Kendall came out with the 2000 mile oil!
Remarkable!

Did you drive less back then? If I needed to change oil and lube every 1000 miles, I would be changing the oil on the kid-hauler every 3 weeks and on the truck every month!

10,000 miles a year was condidered a high average then.
A $5.00 bill would cover it and you would get some change back.
