You said you see guys with lifted trucks on the side BECAUSE they had to mash the pedal to stop. You mash the pedal in a stock truck with a trailer your gonna have issues.

A lifted truck with a higher center of gravity could roll without a trailer.

Bigger tires might be more weight for your brakes wasn't disputing that point. I was stating a known fact that again even with a stock truck the trailer is gonna add weight.

Main point is if you drive like a dumbass your gonna have problems

Max you've had how many accidents???? LOL just messing with ya (not really :-P)

Sidewall flex is the culprit here. Taller sidewalls flex more, so will tend to wander more, and M/T tires with their big lugs will wander more still. Throw in a suspension lift that lengthens the lever (frame to axle distance) to which the trailer applies lateral force and you'll get more sidewall flex so more wander. And if you want some real excitement, exceed the load rating of steel wheels on the rear axle of the tow vehicle so they can flex, too.

The lightweight trailers that the OP is talking about probably won't cause him any trouble at all. But with heavier, longer trailers the combination of tall tires, big tread lugs, suspension lift, and possibly weak steel rims is just asking for trouble.

Oh my god man this is just rediculous...Whats wrong with you guys? The OP didnt ask for advice and for your ''opinions'' on towing... He just wanted some info on a drop hitch. He didnt ask you to tell him if he should tow with HIS truck..Why dont you just stop ruining his thread..Im done.

If the biggest trailer is 16' you could probrably get away with just one drop hitch somewhere around 5" or 6" drop, it doesnt matter how heavy the trailer is because your only going to want to put so much weight on the tongue and it seems like all the trailers you will regulary tow are fairly small
