Can you try backing the adjuster off abit to see if that makes a difference?

they are almost 33's and after im done with the drivetrain, im doing wheels/tires and paint. but anyhow i hope to get some mickey t 33/15.50's so they will be bigger than stock.

on dry pavement, as of right now, you cant lock up front or rear, which is what i was going for- but id like to push it a little closer to the EDGE, right before they want to lock- and was hoping that stuff would do it.

I have a 97 ram 1500 5.9l 2wd and I am looking to up the towing capacity on my truck. I have already rebuilt the trans and rear end. I am now looking to upgrade the brakes. After reading this thread and doing some research, I believe that using 3/4 or 1 ton calipers is a good idea for increased braking. The only issue i found is that compairing brake specs between 1500 2500 and 3500 the rotors are thicker on 2500 and 3500. 1.260 in. is brand new thickness on 1500 and 1.500 in. is for 2500 and 3500. Working at the dealership I have seen many vehicles with below minimum thickness rotors and not blow out the pistons on the calipers. My suggestion to anyone who wants to attempt this upgrade is to make sure you buy new rotors and use quality pads. Also check the pad thickness and piston travel anytime you take the wheels off for maintanance.

So if we go with the 3/4 or 1 ton calipers what kind of rotors should we get, just new 1/2 ton rotors?

Stock half ton rotors on a half ton truck. You can only use the light duty calipers on the half ton. The HD, and 1 ton calipers use different brackets. (I think, I need to test this theory..... I have an HD 3/4 ton, but, it has the LD calipers on it...... Dodge did some funny stuff in the early years.)

The LD 3/4 ton calipers have a larger piston, but, use the same mounts, and pads, as the half ton. So, you get more braking power from the same amount of pedal effort. Great for those folks that have gone to larger tires, tow, or, just want meaner brakes.

Ok so the HD 3/4 tons wouldn't work? Also what constitutes LD 3/4 tons, is that ones that came with the gas motor in them?

The HD calipers will fit.

But remember this only works with single piston caliper trucks
