IIRC we don't need a rev limiter with our ignition system. I don't have one on my summit box

That is a digital, and the regular one is analog. Not sure what that means. If you get this, get the performance coil, thicker wires, and a brass terminal cap (Basically the Accel tune up kit). I like the U groove plugs. The more powerful coil will allow you to run a higher gap in your plugs. Experiment with the plug gap. After all, if you are juicing your ignition, make the biggest spark you can possibly get!

The only reason I have the MSD 6AL in my truck is because it used to be on a thirdgen camaro I had. Where i needed the rev limiter (5 speed, drove it hard). worked out well for me when my throttle got stuck because i didn't blow my engine when i threw it in neutral and then turned the car off.

FWIW, the regular box has lasted me since 2002 and has not failed me. This is the third vehicle it has been on. I am so glad that no one wanted to buy my ignition and coil setup when they were for sale for 100.

I wanna know how that worked cause the box doesn't stop your engine from spining at the high rpms

The MSD boxes have (some of them, the "L" designation in the name...) a built in rev limiter that is set with a 'pill' for changing what RPM you want it to stop at.

I know what the l stands for. The box doesn't halt your engine from turning though. It's not a magical engine brake that stops the engine dead when it hits that number

I assume it stops sending power to the plugs when the set maximum RPM is reached.
