33 tires on stock
I'm trying to find 33" tires to put on the truck. Has anyone tried to mount 33s on a stock suspension w/o a leveling kit, and know if they're gonna rub or not, or am I gonna need a leveling kit?
I think a fair number of folks have put 33's on their trucks. the 285/70/16's are basically 33 inches, and is one of the 'popular' upgrades for these trucks.
If it rubs, it will be either on the plastic inner fender wall, at the back of the wheel opening, or, (and?) the back edge of the bumper. Another member is going to try and see if he can move his bumper forward a bit for some more clearance. The plastic can be heated, and re-formed, so the tire clears.
You might also have an issue of the inside edge of the tire contacting the control arms for the front axle. There is an adjustable stop to fix that, but, reduces your turn radius. (increases your turn radius??? You can't turn as sharp.....) But, its a truck. I don't think that 'maneuverable' was really part of the plan anyway.

depends on the gearin ur runnin too, im runnin 3.92s and i dont notice any performance lose, and i dont have the plenum or nothin done to my truck for except a flowmaster muffler and people still compliment about how much get up the truck has for as big it is.
yea u would prob. feel the weight of them, if ur that worried bout it get some new gears? but i myself think you will be ok depending on what all you have done to ur truck, u would still have the power, just might take a little longer to get them to spool up.

Problem is, new gears (for both front and rear axles if you're a 4x4) run about $800-$1000 just in labor. Unless you catch some great deals or get used gears, you're talking $1500-$2000 when its all said and done.
i put 33's on mine stock no problems... I actually think i get better mpgs but i might just be crazy. and they only rub at a full turn. Just watch how much air u put in them. I learned not to put what the tire says but what the truck says. Id only put 65 if i was carrying a load of mulch or something
