nope it doesn't have any wires on it, and it's on the passenger side. I'd take a pic but I broke my camera this weekend on the beach... apparently they don't like to be filled with sand....

here's a pic of what it looks like, might help you notice it

I found a pic of the valve... way over to the left side of the pic, halfway down... Apparently they go bad and either stick closed or stick open, don't remember...

after i talked to you i tightened the bolts on the tps and now its being even more irritating. when i turn the truck on it defaults to the dash and i have to turn the a/c off and then back on for it to blow thru the vents. but ima replace that check valve tomoro and see what happens. amymore input wuld be appreciated... what does this valve do exactly? is it common for them to leak?

TPS would not have anything to do with the vents. it is that check valve. And the valve you were referring to, Matty, was the evap purge solenoid. Not it.

It is mon the passenger side. Just follow the small plastic line (vac line) going from the upper firewall down. it will go into a valve with 3 connections on it. one is a 90* angle turn. that is what you need to replace. It is usually located around the back corner of the passenger side valvecover.

i did cut the cruise out of the vac circuit and with the cruise vaccum lines there was a check valve that i took out, however there is still a check valve on the a/c line

THat is not how you test it. It is more complicated than that. the valve is not that much, and if replacing that does not work, open your throttle body and look down with a flashlight. If there is ANY sign of oil, then the plenum is blown and that is causing the problem.

If you blow in it, it is the OPPOSITE of what the engine does. The engine SUCKS. it would be terribly wrong if the engine blows.

Well, that isn't very nice.......

My plenum is blown (big time) and my vents actually work pretty good. I am going to take a shot in the dark here, and predict a downstream (other side of the check valve) vacuum leak.

interesting... it does burn ALOT of oil but i hooked a vac gauge to the crank and ther was actually like 1 psi pressure in ther (i replaced pcv and breather). i just attributed the oil burning to badly damaged rings. the valve seems to be really hard to pull out of the vac lines, y? which way does the valve install?
