Default Buying ramps

I'm needing to buy some ramps for my truck and the wife's mini-van. Do you guys use them? Plastic or metal? Where did you buy them and how much did you pay?

I had metal but they got bent some how.
Now have the plastic or some kind of composition about 1/4" or more thick.
Like them better than the others.
Don't remember where I got them or price. It' been several years.

i built a set a few years ago from 2x10" - 10ft long. they were 4' long, with 1' of flat spot and 3' of ramp, and several pieces wide they're very solid, strong, cheap, and HEAVY. 2x8 might have been better, as the 9-1/2 inch height was overkill. if you do this make sure you build them wide enough to be stable.

edit - i saw some of the plastic one's at autozone and advance the other day. one set was rated at 12k pounds and another at 8k. they were nice. i think advance was a tad cheaper.

Dad has a set of plastic ones from pep boys. He puts them under the back wheels of his F250 so the race car will roll out of the trailer easier. He collapsed a set of metal ramps rated for 10,000 lbs but these have held up quite well. I forget what they are rated for.

Dhvaughan, How did you connect all the pieces? Screws or long anchor bolts? Because I have alot of 2X8 laying around.

Edit: I looked at autozone online at ramps. 12000lb rating for $50...I'm gonna get those I think.

Thanks dhvaughan, you saved me $10. Advance is cheaper by 10 bucks, same rating and brand as autozone. I rarely go to advance, guess I need to use them more.

I don't trust any ramps.... Had a bad experience with 'em.

Jack Stands.

Never been fond of ramps either, only use shop jack & stands (2 sets of 3k, 1 set of 6k)
Except at the track, if I want to look under the Indy I just put it on its trailer
