"death flash"?
so i was reading some threads and the death flash came up. What is that exactly? is the dealer being refered to as "death" in the phrase? i read where someone told someone to check their pcm and see if it has a "dealer flash"sticker on it. what exactly does that say? because mine has a sticker that says "authorised computer progrmming" or somethin in 2000, and it has a sticker on the center of the inside of the hood reflecting it, sayin that they reporgramed the pcm in 2000. so did i have the death flash? and if i got a programmer and flashed it myself would it be like getting a new motor? or am i just a ill informed and this doesnt happen to the v6?

Plenum problems are a separate issue. The death flash was done for a couple different reasons, it was not because of the plenum at all. Some dealers mistakenly used a flash to 'mask' the plenum problem, why they wouldn't want to fix it, I have no idea. Lazy? Uninformed? Stupid? Didn't look? All of the above?
Look down you throttle body, see if you see oil. Or, if you have excessive oil consumption, you probably need to do the plenum as well.

PM HemiFever. He can get you a tuner with a good tune for 275.00, much better price than any other tuner I have seen, and everyone that has used his tunes is happy with them.
Only other choice is the dealer. (and they will just give you what you already have......) I would not trust ANY parts store flunky to flash my PCM, and I don't think they do that trick in any event.
Or....... If you were feeling really ambitious, could get a laptop, cable, and some software, and start doing your own tunes.
