Bad day for my 97
right....and ford sells cars that burst into flames...thats much better...
my ramcharger has 200+ on it stock tranny, and my mirada has a tranny out of a 69 cuda, so its 36 years old going strong.
this is a dodge enthusiasts forum...we are pretty obviously pro-dodge...so if you are only here to badmouth dodge..let me know and ill help you out.

I happen to prefer GM over Ford. But I would take a Ford over a Dodge any day. Ford also happened to take action to the select few trucks, and fix the ingition problems. Did Dodge ever recall their continuously failing transmissions? Nope. I rather be driving a fixed ford than driving a Dodge and being scared that one day my clutch plate might come though the floor and knock me out.
I guess I should also mention my work truck provided by my company is a 1995 f250 deisel and it has less than 200,000 miles on it. My father and I have been driving it for tha last 4 years. We have had to replace the tranny 4 times replaced the transfer case 2 and replaced the driveshafte. I won't go into all of the electrical problems though. Needless to say I will never own a ford truck.
I must say that my Bronco has been pretty reliable, I bought it from the original owner and the only things that he had go wrong with it were very minor and it now has 164k. Everyone can have different experiences with certain brands.
exactly...i had a company car in the form of a 88 gran marquis and it was a complete POS, on its second engine and 4th tranny. on the other hand, my dad was the person who serviced my mirada from day one, and i bought it from the first owner. the car had only had like 3 or 4 oil changes from 1983 to 1995 when i bought it. in that time, it had gone 125,000 miles on a handful of oil changes, and i still raced it for 2 years before i got my 340.
What I'd like to know is how many of those people with failed trannies bought a light duty 1500 because it is well known that Dodges are the most powerful trucks there is, and the hauled more then they should without servicing the tranny properly or having a heavy duty cooler which we all know you need for heavy duty applications.
Yes Dodge trannies fail but lots of vehicles ford, chev, Nissan, and it don't matter what you drive if your a moron, drive like an idiot and don't maintain it it will break PERIOD !!!!

oh ya, and Yes I am new here, and new to Dodge, but I have 4x4'd for many years with every type of vehicle out there and when it was time to upgrade to a fullsize truck I chose Dodge for a reason !!! DURABILITY !!!!! Ford, looks like a car, drives like a car, Chev, looks kinda like a truck, but drives like a car, Dodge..... All truck !!!
By the way there 97ram4x4, in no way am I trying to imply you are a moron or were driving like an idiot, it was just a generalization as to why many units fail. We've all seen poorly maintained vehicles out on the trails....
