engine swap question

well hopefully it holds up im running a 4.5 suspension lift with a 3in body and 37s and i beat the hell out of it and she shifts real smooth still so hopefully the 5.9 dosnt trash it

going to do the swap hopefully sunday will the motor run with the 01 pcm i no it will throw dash lights on but untill i get my pcm i wanna see if it runs also can i swap intakes with out changing nething else, and im replacing the clutch pressure plate and flywheel should i get an 01 or 96 clutch setup ......also i looked at the door tag and its an 00 not sure if that changes anything thnks all...

It might. Don't expect any of your dash gauges to work though..... Would be best to have the right PCM in there... don't wanna let any magic smoke out.

yea i better just get a pcm hopefully the junkyard has one.... anyones input on the intakes if there direct swap

also would a 96 360 auto computer work would just throw codes for not reading the auto tranny sensors right

i don't really know, but the 96 pcm might be very forgiving of the auto/manual trans swap. somewhere in there was the changeover from transmission 46RH to RE. the RE has the electronics and the RH i think has none except maybe a temp sensor. i think it'll either work or not, and if it doesn't, i don't think any damage will occur. just my shade tree opinion.

intake is a direct swap. use your 96 temp sensors.

alright pulling the motor tomorrow but i got 2 dumb questions can i use the wireing harness that on the 360 out of the parts truck or do i have to use the 318 wiring harness? and do i want a clutch kit for a 360 or 318? and for what year or r they all the same?..... thanks alot guys

use the wiring from the 318 and the clutch is the same between the both of them just make sure you get a 360 flywheel

alright will do thanks just curious whats diff between the 318 and 360 flywheel but not the clutch and what year should i get it for 96 or 01? the 318 wireing harness will plug right into the 360 injectors? im just wondering so i no for the future in case im ever asked this question whats the diff between the 360 and 318 wireing harness b sides the temp sensors? does it not plug into the 96 360 pcm thanks guys il b out of your hair with dumb questions hopefully after this weekend..
