Default best exhaust and CAI for towing

im sure this question has been beaten to death already but ill ask it again. What is the best exhaust system for towing power. rite now my truck is straight piped and will not pass emissions. i regularly tow between 5200 and 7000lbs. i was kinda disapointed with my trucks towing performance with the stock exhuast system and it was yet worse with after straight piping it. ive heard rumors that aftermarket exhaust systems and CAI actually make towing performance decrease. so is the stock intake and exhuast really the best for towing and if not what do you guys recomend

i highly reccomend a higlflow cat with some kinda muffler and you should be mpore than good enough, you can also buy a 14x3 round intake from advance or pep boys.

also you may want to check your truck for a failure of the plenum, look down your throttle body for oil. and throttle body spacers are junk if thats the spacer your relating to in your sig

lastrights - do the throttle body spacers actually cause a "drop" in power or does it really have no affect?

when i 1st bought my truck , it was the 1st mod i did and then came on here and guys said it does nothing that its just a paperweight, and i took it off and i felt a gain in low end .

there a big read on here somewhere about it and why it does nothing , someone actaully did a dyno run with it and showed a loss in hp/tq

ya no problem, if your looking for the 1st mod . do a tuner either superchips or sct .. these motors are really detuned form the factory and wake up with a tuner day and night diffrence

theres step by step guides and parts list on here on how to do the plenum. and tune up is easy also

also this is a good place to be for there is how to do , and arage of polls to what people do with there truck and likes and dislike of the mod, oils, gears, shock ext . https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-ram-faqs-143/

you prob dont have to do your head gaskets unless there leaking

you could also do a fastman for throttle responce or make your own if you have access to a milling mashine to remove the walls on the throttle body from blocking air to go into the intake manifold. fastman bores out the throttle body , but just taking off the walls would help for a cheaper route Name: wm_normal_255837.jpg

Alrite my first priority is gonna be the plenum now but does the combo of a magnaflow high flow cat along with a split side flowmaster cat back sytem (50 series muffler) sound good for towing I would just let it go the way it is but Id like to make more power and I definatly want it to be heard

Good exhaust for towing starts with a smaller pipe so a 2.25 inch pipe over a 2.5 and 3 is a start, and then a CAI will help with upper end without losing low end, not much of a difference really between brands
