Yes, but the snorkel tubes are about 10X bigger than the throttle body blades. No way it'll suck so much air that friction becomes any factor.

I agree that there is some ram air effect going on, that was one of the goals of this experiment. Also, to get cooler, denser air from the front of the engine, away from the heat of the engine.

Just put the rain deflectors on today, will hopefully get a chance tomorrow to test if they lose any ram air effect. I'm looking for higher than 0.9 "/Hg at WOT as a loss of flow.

So AIM, are you still running with the 9x3? Because if that is the case i will return the 12ish x 3ish I have.

No point in trying to shoehorn this thing together. Then i can get my pic uploaded.

I am running the stock Dakota air filter, yes. That is what I was running when I took the manifold vac numbers as well.

And lets be fair now, it's 9.75 inches, LOL!

Hey you haven't posted to your thread recently, how are you doing on the build?

I just need to get the filter. I ordered it last week but haven't gotten a chance to pick it up. I ordered the 1535, but i will just get the stock filter.

And I didn't know it was 9.75 inches.

By Saturday i will have it in my truck. All I need to do is mount the tubes and put the hat on. I am not at home and driving a government vehicle, so I will not be working on it until friday night (some last minute sealing with RTV).

Cool, let me know if you perceive any difference between the snork intake and the round Mopar cleaner.

Minor loss of ram air with the rain deflectors on. Read between 1.1 "Hg and 0.9 "Hg. That was to be expected I guess. Still flows slightly better than the Mopar open element and IAT temps are at least 30* cooler.

Truck is having a hard time keeping coolant temps down in this heat. I don't seem to be seeing anything cooler than 192* after a warm up and the coolant temp sensor has been reading 205* while idling. I wonder if I have a hotter T stat in by mistake...

I do not attribute this to the air intake. Just a random observation as of late.

Need to pick up a Stant 180* and swap it in to be sure.

DFW rivals iraq for heat. I would just drain about a quart of coolant out of the radiator and put 1 quart of water in there. Water transfers heat better than antifreeze.

I am also running that royal purple additive. That seems to be working great here in arkansas. Does not come close to 200 with the AC going full blast.

BTW,

I ran the mopar air cleaner with the paper filter. Did not like that at all. The engine was choking for air on the highway.

I might try it with the k&N but the sucking noise was annoying. Not sure I like the open element. Hence why i am running my stock box now.

This intake is not as loud as an open element. I noticed my exhaust drone is less annoying as well.
