The cooler IAT sensor temps may not be the reason for the drop in A/F ratio.

Something to ponder.
Or maybe there is more of a complete combustion and fuel is being burned more efficiently. With the dual snorkel, it should be pulling enough air.

I was thinking of that when i picked up my two dakota air hats. The filter inside is only 9 inches around. (YEAH BABY!!! I AM STARTING MINE!!!)

Are you using a cloth filter or the paper one?

that is because the spectre is a DROP BASE. YOu need a 1/2 inch spacer to make a drop base work.

Hey AIM, what type of paint did you use? I have some wrinkle black, but it didn't work out quite like the label. Is that just flat balck rustoleum?

Also, did you use a ivet gun to attach the other snorkel? Or are those just screws? I would like to know the type of screws if you would be so inclined.

Thanks,

THANKS MUCH. I will be taking my time with this one. First time cutting anything since i cut my exhaust on my 1996 when putting on headers.

Gonna take my time sanding. Thanks for taking the pic.

LET ME KNOW if you want anything from that junkyard. I will be back there next week, to pull some parts. They have LOTS of 2nd gen rams and daks. LOTS. THey are on car-part.com so they probably deliver. I can go scope some parts if you need.

Also, looks like I am gonna be getting a caulker of ultra black for sealing this (I am exagerrating, but it is gonna be tedious). Makes for a good weekday night project.

Thanks for doing this and posting it.

I honestly don't know if there's a bunch of benefit to all the sealing I did, I just did what seemed right. A bunch of it may have been totally unnecessary to any performance gains at all.

When you get the RTV, cut the tip of the tube at a steep up angle and the flat tip will help smooth the RTV, kind of like caulking a bathroom or kitchen.

And get lots of paper towels, that crap gets on everything.

I have the gigantic roll of those blue shop towels that are like very thick paper towels. I am prepared.

The worst was cleaning the plastic ducting. As you can see from my pics in my thread. I cleaned ONE but not the other.

Oh yeah, snag yourself an extra IAT sensor or 2 from the junk yard, you can leave the original one in the manifold to keep the hole plugged and put a new one in the hat for colder temps.

If you find an unbroken not cracked 2001 dash cluster bezel, I'd be interested in that. The one that surrounds the gauge panel. I think the heat in Texas has destroyed all of them here, I can't find a single one
