Default Is it worth it?

My friend's grandfather is selling his Ram 2500 w/8.0 v10, I think a 98, for $1500. It has 115k miles, and has never been in a major accident. From what I've been told, the body looks okay (needs paint, but not a big deal), and the trans is in good shape. Do you think it's worth it?

I don't know too much about the v10, so I don't know what to expect.

I don't have pics atm, but I'm going to take some soon.

It's worth more than he's asking if it's in good mechanical condition. And if you can afford to keep that thirsty beast sated on gasoline.

If it runs solid, you are getting a steal. Only thing is, it is tough to find aftermarket parts for 'em and at BEST you'll see 10 MPG's

Yep, parts are tough to come by, but if it's in decent shape with no mechanical issues, it's a steal. I just hope you don't plan to make a daily driver out of it...

as long as the transmission's not about to fall out, its worth it. but the question is - do you have a use for it ?
is it 4wd ?

as said, mpg's are awful.

Unless you own a gas station.....

The truck is definitely worth it, if it moves around under its own power reliably.

If you need a HD then 1500 is a steal even if its a 4x2
