Default Code P0443

I have been fighting this code for a while now and have run out of ideas and options

It is a EVAP Purge Valve Control Circuit malfunction

so far what I have done is

- checked and replaced gas cap
- checked all vacuum lines
- replaced the valve/solenoid

I will clear the code with my actron, and if its while im driving or the truck is running the code will comeback right away. if I do it while the truck is off, the code will come back after two start ups.

i am wondering if this may be a PCM problem. or possible a bad wire going to the PCM. either way, does anyone have a pin-out for the PCM?

There is a factory service manual available for download in the FAQ section of this site, it is for a 2001 truck though. If your truck is 98 or newer, should be pretty close at the very least.

I bet there's a problem with the hoses or the charcoal canister.

well i found it!

suscribed to all data and got the pin out and the tech manual troubleshoot for the evap purge solenoid. found that the signal wire from the plug to the solenoid to the connector directly to the pcm was broken, cut it at each end and ran a new one. bam!

Any chance you can post a pic of what you repaired? Mine keeps spitting out an EVAP code which I know has something to do with my canister having been saturated in gasoline a long while back.

Grab the 01 service manual from the faq section, in the Service Manuals thread.

Check the valve itself, make sure it is plugged in, and isn't something truly obvious.
