I'd rather not sell the truck. It has just recently been painted and the interior is in great shape.
From what i'm gathering from everyone is that I just need to find a harness and computer from a V8 standard, either a 5.2 or a 5.9

Yep. The swap mechanically is not hard. My advice....get it all mechanically hooked up (engine, trans, drive shaft, etc...) then wire it.

Not in the 1500s. Unless its a custom job (not factory), there were no 5.9L V8 and standard/manual transmissions offered.

In the 2500s, that's a different story. They did offer that combo, although in my experience its still pretty rare to find one.

They did offer a 5.2L V8 with manual transmissions for the 1500s, but that PCM will be for a 5.2L V8, not a 5.9L V8. It'll work, from what I've read here on the forum, but not the best running vehicle as there are a few minor differences between the 5.2L V8 and 5.9L V8.

If this is going to be a daily driver (DD), unless you are a pro/expert mechanic at this kind of stuff, I'd unfortunately go with the others' suggestions. Its cheaper to sell both vehicles and buy a V8 1500 then to pay a professional/mechanic set all this up for you.

If you are attempting all the work yourself, this truck isn't going to be crucial to your job/lifestyle (not a DD), and you don't care how many times you mess up and have to fix it... go for it.

I honestly don't see the big deal. The only thing I'm worried about is the wiring. But i've done some research and it seems people have used the 5.2 wiring on a 5.9, just changed the injector connectors and it worked. I believed they also had the PCM reflashed.

I'm more then capable of doing this swap. I have a 92 Mustang that i'm in the process of putting an LS1 in. Its just about finished. That was two complete different brands coming together. This is just a dodge into a dodge. It seems most of you are making it seem much more difficult then what it is.

To me it seems I have a few options:
1. Find a 5.2/Manual trans harness and computer, swap out the injector pigtails
2. Find a 5.9/manual trans harness and computer from a 2500 and not worry about anything.
3. Swap the entire 5.9 and auto into my truck and use an aftermarket floor shifter.

My main concern now is getting the gauges to work. Are the sending units on the V6 going to be the same the sending units on the 5.9?

5.2 and 5.9 are both V8, hence the same wiring harness. The difference between the two is the PCM programming.

I never doubted your capability of doing this swap, as most of us could. But after all is said and done, you could have sold the 2 vehicles and bought a V8 Ram for cheaper than doing the swap, minus all the labor included doing the V8 install. But if your dead set on doing the swap, then more power to you, and good luck!
