Default cornucopia of confusing codes

The problem started about a year ago when my truck made a sound, and suddenly I could smell gas in the cab, I freaked out, pulled over, but the smell stopped and the truck continued to run well, but that durned ole check engine light was on. Turns out that smell was the charcoal canister exploding and shooting charcoal throughout my vacuum system. Eventually had the time to replace canister and the vacuum hoses and the light went off....... for long enough for me to renew my tag, and has been back on ever since. Didnt pay much heed to it until my truck started acting funny. It will on an occasion wait till it shifts, especially on an incline and there is a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency and power.

Ran the codes today, got back a po441, evap emissions (which I expected) and a po332........ knock sensor condition....
which would explain the decrease in power.... but I was under the impression that this vehicle doesnt have a knock sensor. what are the odds my computer is shot? my mechanic said it was acting screwy the last time he worked on it, like it was about to go bad.

My truck is a 97 v6

update, unconnected my battery terminal for 10 minutes like I read and the check engine light is no longer on. I still think the computer on the verge of failure. Reckon this weekend I will try replacing that plectrum, and if that fails to return the power to my once mighty beast, then I will be worried. Also, just read about the easy fix to the wild vent problem Thats been driving me crazy all summer!

Does the V6 magnum engine have a plenum? I saw an ABS kit for a v6, but the chrystler guy looked at me like I was crazy. Not that he seemed to know to terrible much about what he was doing.

A lot of "Chrysler guys" have no clue what you are talking about when it comes to the "plenum issue". Sometimes all they know is what they read in their books/manuals and service bulletins, maybe not even those.

Yes, the V6 has the gasket just like the V8s, and yes, it can have the same issue.

does anyone happen to know the part number for the plenum gasket? Ive looked around, and I just cant seem to find it. Either that or a good place to look. I found the kit at ABS, but to be blunt I dont have enough money to buy the plate quite yet. Just want the gasket.

You can get the gasket from the dealer, or, any parts store. If you just replace the gasket, go to the hardware store, and get some slightly shorter bolts. Otherwise, you will be doing this again in a year or so.

I'd recommend the Felpro gasket. Very heavy duty.

My two cents.
