Default Tracking Bar?

Hi I'm new here. I was wondering If Anyone knew where and how to replace a Tracking Bar on a 97 Ram.

My main Vehicle needs a new engine so a buddy of mine is selling me his Dodge and said it needs a new Tracking Bar. Can Anyone be of any help?

Thank you in advanced

the track bar the the bar that runs parallel with the axles and goes from the axle up to the frame. just disconnect it on both sides and put it in the same way it came out. you might even be able to do it with the truck sitting on the ground? someone correct me if im wrong.

welcome to the DF!

Sweet, Thanks. How safe is it to drive it for a few days without fixing it?

depends on how bad it is. have a buddy turn the steering wheel(with the truck on) and look to see if the track bar wiggles the the joints. it shouldnt. theres a guy that had a video of his and it was bad. im not sure where thats at tho

heres that tread- https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...questions.html

I did mine without a jack. It was pretty easy. (once I got the balljoint type end out of the frame mount. That was the hardest part.)

Well after looking at it and driving it, I wanna say it's not a Trac Bar. The Truck drift "ALOT" to the right and there is ALOT of play in the steering wheel. I also noticed alot of leakage from the power steering pump but that dont explain why is drifts and the play in the wheel. I'm gonna have to put it up when there is no rain and look further into this i think. Anyone have any Ideas on what to look for?

dodges are known for loose steering. there are some adjustments you can make to tighten up the steering box, other than that. check ball joints...

When you find a dry spot, have a buddy move the steering wheel while you look at steering parts. The sloppy ones will be reasonably obvious.

Is the p/s pump leaking? or the steering box?
