Without a custom tune, it will run like crap. The PCM simply will not be able to figger it out. Figure in a wideband O2 sensor, and a custom tune from Hemifever as well. (375 for the tuner, no clue how much for the wideband)

Also want to be careful with piston to valve clearance. You might be pressing it awfully close there, if not overlapping......

You will see about 80-100 HP at the wheels with that setup (And a good tune, just PM hemifever).

If I were you, I would pass on the edelbrock heads and get the Iron Ram Heads.

But what you mentioned is basically this:
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...p?partid=26112

Remember that you need different pushrods for those heads, special roller rockers, different head bolts and all gaskets.Plus the SCT from hemifever. OH, and headers (about 350). If you are going to keep the stock manifolds on that setup, you might as well just not do it. Also, I would get a new set of lifters (Rhoads) and they cost 299 for a set. This stuff is not cheap.

You can save yourself about 900 dollars if you get the Iron Ram Heads (2.02 valves) and a good roller cam that hughes recommends. Or, Skip the cam and get the 1.7 Harland sharp roller rockers.

for about 2000 you can get the roller rockers, Iron Ram heads, Hughes plenum plate, 180* t-stat and a SCT. ANd you will be VERY happy.

I highly recommend the SLOW route. Get a SCT...if you want more power, get some 1.7 roller rockers...if you want more, get some heads...if you want more, get the Air gap intake.

BTW, you will be VERY limited with that cam you listed with the stock intake. You would need to fork over another 600 bucks for the Air Gap.

In case this is the case...NEVER use a USED CAMSHAFT. I did and it was all messed up. A lifter must have been put in the wrong spot in the package (flat tappet) and the lifter was bad. It completely wore down a lobe to NOTHING. However, people say you don't have to worry about that with a roller camshaft.

I would say skip the cam and get 1.7 roller rockers. But, if he is installing the camshaft...go for it. Just make sure you get a tune from hemifever.

Hemifever@aol.com 375 for a custom tune.

And yes, get a wideband O2 gauge. About 186-300 dollars depending on what brand you want to get.

WOW, I wish someone would just give me a set of gibsons!!! Ceramic coated? or the bare stainless steel. If he is giving a set of ceramic coated ones....you should consider yourself lucky.

1100 for a set of edelbrocks and gibson headers....STEAL. then pay 335 for the harland sharps, and another 375 for the SCT and tunes. You will be very happy and make A LOT of power.

Congrats, thats a heck of a deal, heads alone are more than that new.
How many miles on the truck they are coming from?
Only reason not to use the cam is if its damaged or has high mileage put on it.
Inspect the cam & if its not nicked or worn, go with it..
Buddies n I have passed a few cams around, there is minimal wear on roller cams.
2 of them have been in 4 different trucks without issue.
Those 2 cams are still going strong.
Take everything he wants to sell for the 1100.

The only other things you will need are a a/f gauge with wideband o2, SCT custom tune as mentioned & some FMS 24lb inj.
That setup should still pass an etest as well if you need to
