New cap didn't help .... can someone confirm this firing order is right , 1996 ram 1500 , 5.9 l

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 pass side 2-4-6-8 , drive side 1-3-5-7

I have over checked this at least 7 times and i have it right as above. But the truck acts like the firing is mixed up , don't know where to look now , unless i try the old crank sensor back on it as it wasn't the original problem to start with, the pick up was the culprit.

^^ Best thing to do is to remove all of the spark plug wires from the plugs and then completely from the distributor cap. Remove the distributor cap, install the plug wire for #1 onto the distributor cap, reinstall the distributor cap, connect the wire for #1. Then, work either clockwise or counter-clockwise to install the remaining wires. It is best to follow the procedure as laid out in the TSB. I encountered this once after installing a new cap and found it much easier to just start from scratch.

Sounds like it was originally your distributor cap.

If the CKPS sensor is NOT OEM, this is a "bonus" feature. I've had this happen to me twice - Napa and Pep Boys junk sensors coming out of Taiwan and Mexico remakes- total garbage.

Clean and re-install the old sensor. NOTE: apply a small amount of mineral oil to both seal and sensor body (NOT SENSOR FACE) This shall correct that issue. Yes, the firing order is the same for both 5.2 and 5.9 so, you've got it correct there.
