There is power to coil but no spark on the plug test . S0 if the coil wire is powered when key is on the then the cam sensor is working ????
How can i check for juice on top of the coil ...output ? also just because my crank sensor is new (ebay) doen't mean it is working, how can i test it with a common volt meter ?

Might be an ASD event. The asd relay will shut down the PCM, but, you may still get power TO the coil. You just never get a ground. (or, the ground is never turned off, whatever....)

Stick a spark plug right into the coil wire, and lay the plug somewhere it gets a good ground, but, isn't likely to make anything go BOOM. Crank the engine, see what happens.

Also, if you can, check and see if the fuel pump is running while cranking.

I have read that the cam sensor tells the computer when to spark the system if this is true than it could be a faulty cam sensor .
Because i put in a new crank sensor should i reset the computer ?

You are suppose to disconnect the neg battery cable anytime you change any of the sensors. That will reset the PCM.

Um, the pickup in the distributor is the cam sensor. If you go to the DIY thread, look for the Field Service Manual. All of your distributor questions will be answered in there.

Helpful hint - Use a small mirror to find the raised mark that denotes #1.

Got new pick up installed but truck won't run right, it tries to run but stops. Do i need to reset timing after changing coil, crank sensor and pick up ? I double checked my plug wire arrangement and it is correct to the firing order i got from the web .

Timing is set by the PCM and cannot be adjusted.

You mean the 0s sensor in front of the cat converter, no i didn't, my converter has no guts in it, just a shell. MY distributer cap contacts inside were crudded up with white crust, i used a flat screwdriver and scraped them clean as i could, wounder if that could be why shes not running well ?
