Default Help would be appreciated.

I have 99' dodge ram 1500 5.9L 4WD. I have engine problems and have found a engine in a 94' dodge ram 2500 5.9L 2WD.
I am thinking most of the other engine will fit just not sure on the transmission and transfer case, and also the ECM.
I have done some checking on parts. Most of the parts are the same between the 2 different years.

Thanks for the help.

94-95 is OBD 1 and 96+ is OBD2, so its major difference in ECM and wiring.
transmission is hugely different.

the basic engine is the same. if you install the 94 engine ONLY, and move the 99 intake and ALL sensors over to the 94 it will work. do not use any wiring or sensors from the 94. edit - unless you prove they are interchangeable by checking parts catalog and visual plug check.... assume they are not interchangeable....

It will bolt up and work just fine as long as you swap the intake manifold and use all the sensors off the 99. And while the intake is off get a Hughes plate. Do a search here for that or for "plenum".

Too funny! Even though I'm up here in NH, I am waiting for the exact same thing. That's what made me think to post that. LMAO

also just so you know the 94-95 tranny's are 46RH (mechanical) and the 96-2001's are 46RE (electrical)
