408 Mag stroker

That is a weird question. Because most people that do 408s do BUILT 408s (Heads, cam and supercharger).
For a STRAIGHT 408, with stock heads, cam and maybe JUST bigger injectors (tune is assumed as well). you are looking at about 290-300 RWHP but boatloads more torque.
For a BUILT 360 you can have the same HP, with a bit less torque. BUT you can do it two ways:
1. Heads, cam, 24# injectors, headers, ignition upgrades: About 280 HP and 340-360 torque.
2. SUPERCHARGER (6 lbs boost), stock heads, stock cam, 1.7RRs, headers, ignition. You are looking at more HP than a 408 and a bit less torque.
SO, for the price of that block, you can have about 90% of the cash for a supercharger kit.
If you are doing a 408...you will need all the goodies for a built 360 to really bring it to life.
Here is your question rephrased:
1. WHat is better, a half assed 408 or a built 360.
Answer: built 360. If you want to go 408 later down the road...you have good parts to swap.
If you are going more 8 lbs of boost, I believe that thicker head gaskets, bigger injectors, ARP rod bolts and QUITE POSSIBLY ARP head studs are necessary.
But I think supercharger or rear mount turbo is a better setup for someone your age. However, I think you should just start siomple, unless you have someone doing the work for you/helping you.
