Default 35's with bigger gears = Worse MPG?

Hey everyone I am 35's on my Ram its got the 5.9 with a K&N air intake. Now I am not in anyway in a state of mind that makes me believe I will get 15 mpg if that but I do wanna squeeze the most I can out of it. I am confused on whether bigger gears would help my MPG or hurt it? Also any other ideas on how to squeeze the last .2 mpg would be cool haha. It gets a lil disheartening to see my fuel guage move as much as it does when I just drive around for a bit. Could something be wrong as well? Im pretty handy mechanically so gimme ideas on stuff to check i just bought it about two weeks ago.

Generally you will NOT improve your fuel mileage simply by swapping gears when installing larger tires. Gears do help though as you will not have your foot in the throttle as much to turn those tires.

You will need to recalibrate your speedometer to make sure it is reading correctly. You need to take into account for the tire size difference and the gear difference.

Drive a tank without OD and see what that does. It's almost the equivalent of 4.56 gears while using OD.

I bet your fuel mileage will go up.

Keep me in mind if you ever decide to swap those gears out for something lower. I want to swap in 4.10's into my truck with the current wheel/tire combo I have.

Have any of you guys been watching Xtreme4x4 and the Dodge Ram that they are doing the mods to to help improve fuel mileage? They are getting pretty good results from a few bolt on things.
