Man I wish I got 13, best mileage I have ever seen was 14.2 all highway and doing 80 max and alot of construction at around 50, this was almost 300 miles of it.

But I average 9.6 around town and if I drive like my grandma I can squeeze 10 out of it

For whatever reason, I seem to get better gas mileage when I drive quick. Maybe it's cause I time lights and traffic better, I do very little braking and I never squeal my tires. It might also be because I drive in the height of my torque and horsepower curves until I get to my desired speed, then I stay at that speed.

Sounds about right, I have a 98 2wd 318 165000 miles with 3.55 gears and 265/70-17s i get close to 20 highway and around 14 city, CAI and dual exhaust. Co worker has a 98 4X4 318 3.26 gears and stock everything except K&N drop in filter, 70,000 miles and gets around 15 highway and 13 city, depending on the gas station (higher ethanol content?).

Some of you guys get unreal (to me) numbers. Just drove home my 99 Dodge Ram 4wd SLT ext cab, 122k miles. I think I got about 14mpg on the trip back (roughly 140 miles of hilly country, haven't filled up yet), that was on 89 octane (didnt know what to put in it at the gas station). Which I thought was horrid, but apparently there are similar experiences on here.

I'm gonna do some supporting mods to my truck, straight through exhaust, perhaps headers (it has a CAI already). I'm gonna do some much needed routine maintenance. Also running 265/85/16's, and no front bumper for the moment (need to get one). Is a tuner really worth it?

How are you figuring that out. I'm pulling my BS card on the 20mpg.

yall are gonna hate me but i get almost 20 mpg on the hwy and 17 in city all i did was swap mechanical fan for electric fans, throttle body spacer, hughes throttle body, hughes intake, p&p stock magnum heads, obx shorty headers, msd 6AL, accel coil, 18" round air filter, custom ecm tune by speed specialties, and 4.88 gears to roll the 37s easily, true dual exhaust h pipe for o2 sensor 2 magnaflow cats and glass packs dumped before axle. and she pulls close to 20 mpg all day long on 87 octane as long as i keep my foot out of it.
