Default Transmission issues!!

i bought a transmission since mine was slipping, front bands... i adjusted them for now but i figured i'd be better off putting a different one in. i paid 150 bucks for one, 150k on it, i am down to taking the crossmember bolts and last mount bolts on tailstock, and the tranny drops and i notice they are a little different, the one i bought has different sensors, and the ID's are different. i can't make much of the one in my truck, too hard to see when it's in the truck, the one on the floor is 064-5 the tailstock looks a little smaller then the one in my truck, the sensors are all in the same place, except one in the tailstock, but they are all different sensors... any help? i can't figure out what tranny matches up with 064-5... i need a 46re for a 2001 ram 1500 2wd.

A518 is the same thing, just a different designation. Kinda like 700R4 vs. 4L60...... I think.

If the dimensions aren't the same, I don't think I would try installing it. Measure length, output shaft diameter, and spline count. See if they match up. If all seems ok, give it a shot. I have no clue if there were any electrical changes between the two years.

That tranny might be out of a 4WD if it is shorter.

if the casing goes from being very large at the bell housing to almost as narrow in diameter as the output shaft its a 2wd, if it goes very large from the bell housing to being like 5" or so then its 4wd... i beleive
