Shaving heads
I'm building my 5.2 for my 2000 ram and was wondering what is the most I can shave off my heads . I want to up the compression but I want to be safe I'm also installing a mild cam any help would be great.
will shaving off a few thousands weaken a head that much??

What he means to say is, "Don't spend the cash to improve a crappy casting to begin with...use that cash to put towards new heads."
I would not shave stock heads unless I was resurfacing them because the gasket blew out and it ran hot.
Magnum engines are the WRONG engines to upgrade if you want to do cheap mods. Nothing about modding these engines is cheap. Chevy and Ford rule the aftermarket.
2K invested in a magnum engine equates to about 1200 for a vortech 350.
However, the TBI to MPFI conversion kit (Vortech) runs about 1200. But replacing the throttle body with a carb is a good mod for a vortech. TBI is basically carburated.
