buy a pushrod length checker. You will need new pushrods with a cam and shaving the heads. Also get a gauge to check the PVC.

Don't shave the stock heads. They had thin decks from the factory, and are prone to cracking. Shaving them will only exacerbate that. (you don't wanna do that)

Why is a machine shop and a barber shop so alike? They both have a couple tools shaving heads!

What he means to say is, "Don't spend the cash to improve a crappy casting to begin with...use that cash to put towards new heads."

I would not shave stock heads unless I was resurfacing them because the gasket blew out and it ran hot.

Magnum engines are the WRONG engines to upgrade if you want to do cheap mods. Nothing about modding these engines is cheap. Chevy and Ford rule the aftermarket.

2K invested in a magnum engine equates to about 1200 for a vortech 350.

However, the TBI to MPFI conversion kit (Vortech) runs about 1200. But replacing the throttle body with a carb is a good mod for a vortech. TBI is basically carburated.
