i'm mistaken...his exhaust is y'd into the cat and then we ran from the cat straight out the passenger side in from of the tire..so he actually does have an O2 sensor

94, so, OBDI, he might only have the one sensor.

If the sensor is old, replace it. A failing sensor may or may not set a code, but, it can certainly make your truck run funny.

Check your fuel pressure. You should have the steel fuel rail, with the valve on the drivers side, just need a gauge.

Fuel Pressure is the first thing i checked since it sat so long....had plenty of fuel pressure at idle and revving in park...could it be loosing fuel under a load? how would i test for that? and as far as the O2 sensor there is no where for me to put it until i get go home for a weekend in which case i'l weld it into the pipe... with a plenum...don't those just go? i mean once they go out don't you look ALL power and have funny idle and what not....but ya know now that i said that last night it did idle surge on me once last night... what could be the culprit of that? vacuum, fuel, electric? i haden't given that a though it was just once and it was only slight.. say from 500rpm to about 8-900

Don't waste your time until you install the the o2 sensor, if you have not already done so.

I'm sure it's getting a lot of extra fuel without the o2, so when you beat on it, it might run ok. But all that fuel dumping in there can't be helping when you drive it normal from a dead stop. And you really have to put the o2 in the right spot. And the exhaust needs to be configured correctly. If you really have true duels, adding the o2 to one side is not correct. Because it will only be getting readings from one bank.
