Obviously the Dormans are ubiquitous but I'm loathe to buy anything Dorman. I'd only do it thru AutoZone or O'Reilly for the LT warranty but swapping a failed Dorman once a season (I'm only guessing, based upon every other piece of garbage they produce) seems like an unnecessary hassle...
I bought the permalock, which permanently locks the cad. I also did on my other 2nd gen the EMS Offroad cad elimination axle, which also puts the axle seal at the end of the axle tube.

Yeah I just rigged one to stay locked but unfortunately this truck is driven by a lot of different people and they're confused if the 4wd light doesn't come on (if I were to simply defeat it), or if it stays on full-time they think it's in 4wd no matter what.

So, ideally I need a solution where the light coincides with reality.....I wish the t-case could be fitted with a plunger switch like Ford and GM so it's actuated internally by the shift arm....

Use a vacuum switch. They are pretty cheap at your local parts store.

A wrangler 4wd switch will screw into the transfer case where the vacuum switch is.

Same here, however, my Dorman actuator did stop working and after pulling it out, I found that the rod just needed to be freed up and greased, since I'm not a big 4WD user.

They can get chewed up.
YEs I checked slide collar and gears all that is in good shape. As far as I can tell nothing else got tore up underneath the truck. My vents do in fact work. Thanks for all your advice

There are a couple bushings in there that keep the axles aligned as well, that way, the collar just needs to slide straight across.

I got one for a 2007 (I believe) wrangler. It screws ivy the transfer case one the wranglers and the hole is the same size.

I would permanently lock the cad then if you need the 4x4 light to work I believe you could screw a switch in for a Jeep or Dakota where the vacuum switch is on yours. I have 2 Jeep transfer cases and a Dodge NP231 sitting in the shed I am going to test this on but I keep forgetting.
