If the truck itself is in good shape it will run as long as you want it to. It just depends on what you're willing to fix. It should be good for a little while if there's no apparent noises or problems, but eventually you'll start having major problems like the engine, transmission, and differential (s). It's just inevitable when you buy a high mileage truck. In my opinion if you're getting a good deal on it and it's in good shape, I wouldn't worry about it until something breaks, then fix it. You just have to make peace with the fact it is a high mileage truck before you buy.

Unless it's cheap, I wouldn't buy an '01 with that many miles. That many miles on a nine year old truck means that it's been driven hard. Majority of the miles are probably good highway miles, but like a previous poster stated, you're gonna start running into problems. Little problems will start to come up and the truck will nickel and dime you until something big goes. Like, for example, the transmission. Then you have to make a decision as to whether or not to dump $2,000 on a truck with 250,000 miles on it.
I've got 247k right now. You'll be fine. I'd trust my truck to make a trip to California and back. It really all depends on how well the truck has been taken care of and if the weak spots on the truck have been replaced or upgraded like plenum, steering, transmission and what have you.
