Ok Zman and Redneck Ram edumakate me on my 31 5.2 pc Im using w/ my 360.
I always felt like it was a lil short on some power and surges a bit.
How do I get a flash done? Or should I just get a pc from a 360?
Do u know what would happen running the 318 pc?

running the 318 pcm with make the 360 run lean. you can go to the dealer for a reflash i believe. otherwise go to a JY and get a pcm for a '98 360. or contact hemifever and get an sct tuner, i believe that will work also. if i am incorrect on the sct tuner part someone im will chime in im sure.

^ true. on the sct i think one of the questions asked is engine size in order to determine fuel flow.

i wonder how superchips and hypertech do it. i suspect they don't alter fuel flow at all, so they would not do you any good.

your cheapest way out might be 360 junkyard pcm from same year and transmission. you could call the dealer for a price on flash. i'd guess it would cost about an hour or maybe a half hour of labor.

Okay so you guys are saying that everything needed from the wiring harness plugs right on the 318 to 360 or visversa, the pcm plugs right on, the felx plate, emissions, Vaccums? yes I knoe that the block is exactlly the same and the heads change in dome cc's but what exactlly is a swap in general. Those are things that need to be considered to unexperienced guys that hear about a swap.

as stated by zman. the flex plate is different between the motors. to op will need a 360 flex plate and a 360 pcm or a tuner. other than that it will all bolt up perfectly.

Don't think the T/C is as critical on a 99.

If you have the right 360 flex plate off of a 96 or newer truck, t/c should be the same..... Might wanna chat with a trans company, or aftermarket t/c manufacturer to be certain on that though. (and then let US know. )
